When it Rains, East Valley Animal Shelter Shines!
PERMISSION TO CROSS-POST
We all know that Los Angeles has been hit by severe rain storms lately. Worried about the effect of the rain on the animals in shelters, a volunteer found a particular type of dog bed that keeps dogs dry from rain that seeps into the dog kennels, and then put the word out that the animals needed our help. The results were staggering. Donations poured in, and the volunteer ordered all 79 beds that were in stock, personally paying for the balance of the beds. Then she solicited more volunteers who worked hand-in-hand with East Valley Shelter staff to set up the new beds in the dog kennels. Thank you Los Angeles and East Valley Animal Shelter for teamwork at its best! The City of LA has six animal shelters with wonderful cats, dogs, kitten, puppies and rabbits available for adoption. Volunteer, adopt, foster or donate. With your help, LA is on the way to becoming No Kill.
The pictures say it all. Because of the amazing donors who wasted no time answering the SOS for the shelter animals, and because friends gave up their spare time to help unpack dog beds and label them for LAAS, and because we had an opportunity to witness dogs enjoying the comfort of the beds, a natural high was achieved.
Thank you donors; thank you Teresa, Valerie, and Abby for laboring over the beds, doing a lot of bending, and especially for having to inhale the spray paint; and thank you Wendell Bowers, Sheryl Perez, Maribell, Jackie Mora and assistants, for your support and assistance.
Starting to unpack the Perla beds at the East Valley shelter.
Yep, they fit just fine.
Quite the handiwork.
A natural high combined with spray paint -- Wow! Move 'em on out to the kennels.
Hey, is it our turn yet? I'm not going in until I find out what's inside.
Was this blanket washed in Downey? That is Downey freshness I'm smelling.
I'm quite content, thank you very much. Can't I get any privacy?
